Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests Tehsildar for accepting Rs 30000 bribe

Chandigarh, January 1, 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Jagtar Singh, Tehsildar posted at Sangrur for accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000. His accomplice Tehsil Clerk  Malvinder Singh is yet to be arrested in this case. After his arrest the VB sleuths has recorded Rs. 1,45,000 cash during the search of accused Tehsildar house.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Mehlan village district Sangrur against both the accused posted at tehsil office Sangrur.

He further informed that the complainant had alleged that he had approached the accused for executing the registry of his land. During the execution both the accused had received a bribe money of Rs. 30,000 in lieu of this registration work.

After verification of the complaint, it was found that above said allegations are true. In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against  both the accused at VB Police station range Patiala. Further investigation into this case is underway, he added.
