Punjab CM calls upon teachers to play active role in anti-drug campaign by educating students

Chandigarh, April 1 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) The Punjab government today achieved a significant milestone in its employment drive as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that more than 55,000 government jobs have been provided to youth in the state during the past 36 months. The announcement came during a ceremony where appointment letters were handed over to more than 700 newly recruited teachers at the Punjab Bhawan.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mann congratulated the newly appointed teachers and emphasized that all recruitments were made strictly on merit basis through a completely transparent process. He pointed out that not a single appointment out of these 55,000 jobs has been legally challenged, which he described as a testament to the fair recruitment system established by his government.
The Chief Minister criticized previous administrations for failing to provide employment opportunities to Punjab’s youth during their tenure. In a sharp remark, he said, “It is ironic that while our youth are finally getting jobs, those who deprived them of opportunities in the past are now unemployed themselves,” drawing applause from the audience.
Highlighting the government’s focus on education reform, Mann detailed several initiatives including infrastructure upgrades in schools and specialized training programs for teachers, some of whom have been sent abroad for advanced training. He stressed that these measures have already started showing results with increased admissions in government schools across the state.
Mann also called upon teachers to play an active role in the state’s anti-drug campaign by educating students about the dangers of substance abuse. “Teachers are not just educators but nation builders who can guide our youth towards a drug-free Punjab,” he said while outlining the government’s continued crackdown on drug smugglers, including seizure of their properties.
The Chief Minister reiterated his vision for a prosperous Punjab, promising to continue the momentum in job creation and governance reforms. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and other senior officials were present at the event where the new recruits were welcomed into government service.
The employment drive under Mission Rozgar marks a significant turnaround in Punjab’s job market, which had witnessed large-scale youth migration abroad during previous administrations. With transparent recruitment processes and focus on merit, the current government aims to reverse this trend and provide meaningful employment opportunities within the state.
