Amritsar, March 15, 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) A low-intensity explosion rocked the vicinity of Thakur Dwara, a small temple near Khand Wala Chowk on the Amritsar-Attari Road, late last night. The blast, which occurred around 12:35 am, caused no damage or injuries but has raised alarms about potential cross-border attempts to disrupt peace in Punjab.
According to police preliminary investigations, based on CCTV footage, reveal that two youths on a motorcycle were seen loitering outside the temple before hurling a crude explosive device. The device exploded outside the temple on road but no structural damage or casualties were reported. At the time of the incident, the temple priest was asleep inside.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who rushed to the spot along with DCP Investigation Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu addressed the media, stating, “I arrived here immediately after receiving information about the blast. The forensic team is investigating the site, and I have spoken with locals. It appears that Pakistan is attempting to disturb the peace here and some local youths are also involved. I urge our youth not to fall prey to such activities.”
He informed that police have launched a thorough investigation, with forensic experts examining the blast site for clues. Authorities are also analyzing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while responding to questions about the blast, emphasized that Punjab remains a target for destabilization. He said, “There are continuous efforts to disturb peace in Punjab, including gang-related ransom demands. However, our police are equipped with modern technology and are working swiftly to maintain law and order.”
Highlighting recent successes, the CM added, “The Moga murder was a result of personal enmity, and the police have already arrested three suspects within 24 hours. Similarly, a child abduction case was also resolved within 24 hours. Drones are being sent across the border to create unrest, but we assure the people of Punjab that peace and harmony will not be compromised.”
