Chandigarh, February 25, 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for a crucial electoral battle in Punjab, with sources indicating that Ludhiana resident and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora may contest the upcoming Ludhiana West Assembly by-poll likely to be held in July-August this year. If finalized, this move would mark Arora’s transition from national politics to a more direct role in state governance.

In a parallel development, AAP is reportedly considering replacing Arora in the Rajya Sabha with party supremo Arvind Kejriwal who has recently lost in Delhi assembly elections. However, insiders informed that a final decision on Kejriwal’s potential nomination will be taken only after Arora secures a victory in the bypoll.

Adding to the political intrigue, the sources said all six other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab have reportedly offered to vacate their seats for party chief Kejriwal. Despite this, the former Delhi Chief Minister has yet to accept any offer, with discussions within the party still ongoing.

If Kejriwal decides to enter the Rajya Sabha, it could signal a strategic shift in AAP’s national ambitions and its approach to parliamentary politics. Meanwhile, the Ludhiana West bypoll is expected to be a high-stakes contest, as the party aims to strengthen its hold in Punjab and set the stage for ensuing assembly elections in 2027.

With AAP’s internal discussions and electoral strategies in full swing, the coming weeks could bring significant political developments in both state and national politics.
