Chandigarh, October 28, 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) – The Punjab Government has extended the service term of Dr. Hitinder Kaur, Director Health Services, who was to retire on October 31 this after rendering 58 years of distinguished services. In this regard, as per the orders issued by Kumar Rahul, Principal Secretary, Punjab Health and Family Welfare on October 24 after the approval of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the extension of the service term of the Director Health Services has been extended by one year subject to certain conditions in the public interest and to ensure continuity, sustainability and successful implementation of major health programmes, infrastructure projects, departmental restructuring exercise were underway in the state.
These orders state that during the extended service period, the officer will be entitled to draw salary as per Rule 3.26 (b) of Part-I of Punjab Civil Services Rules i.e. she will draw the last salary available on the date of retirement for the extended service. All pensionary benefits available to the concerned officer after retirement will be available only after the completion of the extension in his service period.
Apart from this, during the extended service period, the benefits of promotion DACP/MACP etc., annual increment and future revision of pay scales by the government will not be available. If any adverse facts come to light in the future, these orders may be reconsidered.
