Chandigarh, March 7, 2025 (Bharat Khabarnama Bureau) The Punjab Government on Friday has appointed Jasvir Singh Garhi as the Chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes. A well-known political and social figure, Garhi hails from Garhi Kanungoan village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district.
Mentionably, Garhi has been actively involved in advocating for the rights and welfare of Scheduled Castes and other marginalized communities in the state. He previously served as the state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) before joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recently.
His vast experience in public service and community welfare, Jasvir Singh Garhi is expected to play a significant role in addressing issues related to the Scheduled Caste community in Punjab.
